Newsletter Notes

With this issue of Stone Soup News; there is an announcement that it was the last scheduled issue.
A changed format is being explored for a bi-weekly web page in a format that may be more interactive.

Many hands make light work: and the more elaborate an edifice: the more laborers and craftsmen are required. Stone Soup News, certainly served our garden well; in its initial years: displaying our dreams, struggles, and triumphs for a community-managed green space: in vibrant color. Marilyn Moseley, utilized her graphic skills( on genius drive) to make each issue a greater visual treat. And she and I debated out each issue’s editorial  slant: like Michelangelo and the Pope, clashing over the Sistine Chapel. However, the magazine’s format was expensive to produce and distribute: without outside support and inside help.

We often couldn’t get the news and picture  contributions out timely enough. And we also came to realize; that there is a need to promote; not just one garden group; but all gardeners and gardening activity in our Harlem neighborhood. So, we will be testing the feasibility of both, a shorter, more frequent journal for the
Carrie McCracken TRUCE and a new collaborative journal; with other gardens and gardeners.

This is the plan for going forward.( open for discussion, for sure). Evolution.

I want to express my gratitude to Marilyn for her work on the newsletter. And I hope this experience heartens her to continue to channel the spirit of past women journalistic crusaders; like Ida Tarbell, Gertrude Mossell, and Ida B. Well-Barnett.I hope many more of her readers, will commend her efforts for the Stone Soup News.
